Editing services
Overview
I provide freelance editing services, concentrating mainly on editing scientific and academic texts in which clear communication of the author’s ideas is the main purpose.
My clients include scientists, academics, authors of technical works, and authors of non-fiction books.
I’m especially happy to work with non-native users of English, and I aim to make their texts read as if a native speaker had written them.
I offer a number of editing options, depending on your needs and the requirements of your text.
Here are just some of the kinds of work I can perform:
- Editing to remove serious errors of grammar, word-choice, or punctuation, which might make your text harder to follow than it needs to be (or even impossible).
- Editing to improve the style and flow of the text, to increase its clarity, and to simplify awkward, unclear, or inelegant phrasing.
- Making the text and its footnotes, references, bibliographies, punctuation, and other features internally consistent, and if desired, making them conform to a stylesheet.
- Reading by a pair of fresh eyes: authors are intimately familiar with their texts, but often such closeness makes it hard to find errors and non sequiturs. You could ask a family member or friend to read it for you, or you could ask an experienced professional, who can not only find such problems, but also solve them quickly and elegantly.
